Is there anything else I need to know or consider?
Reflective Finish- It is important to know that there is the possibility you will see a white line going across the sign behind your lettering. This is a tooling line used by 3M when they make the material.
If these are kept outdoors, they should be cleaned. Rinse them down with a hose (LIGHT pressure) and wipe off any road salt, dust, dirt or debris that may have flown up at these. Keep in mind the lettering on them is vinyl (like an automotive graphic), so take special care when wiping them down.
Non Reflective Finish .063 gauge, 3105 alloy aluminum White painted finish (both sides) 12" x 18" with Rounded Corners and pre-drilled 3/8" Holes (centered top and centered bottom)
Reflective Finish .080 gauge, 3105 alloy alodized aluminum 3M High Intensity Prismatic Reflective Finish (one side) 12" x 18" with Rounded Corners 3/8" Holes are predrilled in the aluminum, but covered with the reflective material. If you'd like to utlize the holes, just drill through or cut the material to expose the hole.
We use Avery or 3M Engineer Grade vinyl. You have your choice of Reflective colors or Non Reflective.
Reflective Sign. Reflective Lettering - Both the sign and lettering will reflect Reflective Sign. Non Reflective Lettering - Only the sign backing will reflect (white). The lettering will not reflect.
Non Reflective Sign. Reflective Lettering - The sign itself will not reflect, but the lettering will (just like reflective graphics on a vehicle). Non Reflective Sign. Non Reflective Lettering- Neither the sign nor the lettering will reflect.
What's best for me - Reflective or Non Reflective? What's the difference?
This is personal preference. The Reflective Finish is more like the Speed Limit or Parking Signs you see all over. The reflective finish has an awesome effect that is sure to grab your attention every time you look at it.
Our personal recommendation would be a sign with the Reflective Finish and either Gloss Black or Red Non Reflective Lettering.
Non Reflective Finish: The background of the sign is a glossy white. If you choose non reflective lettering to be on them, these will not reflective. When you choose reflective lettering to be on them, just the lettering will reflect, not the actual sign itself.
Reflective Finish: The sign itself reflects white. These are just like parking signs you'll see at a mall. When headlight beams hit the sign at about 1000 feet, they reflect back to the source (you). This is known as Retroreflectivity.
