Show off the "5.7L V8" lettering on your engine cover with these unique decals. This high quality, computer-cut vinyl is designed to fit perfectly over the lettering/numbers embossed on the 5.7 Liter engine cover for the new style engine cover on the 2008-2010 Dodge Challenger 5.7 Liter.
Please note: If the Reflec-Dome option is chosen, please allow up to an additional 6 days for this to ship due to curing time.
IMPORTANT: We are finding that some of our customers are not properly cleaning and prepping the engine cover so the decals are not properly adhering. Therefore, we are labeling these to be used ONLY if you have a painted engine cover (not the factory finish).
Product Installation Instructions
General suggestions for the installation:
1. We recommend washing the entire car first. Next, clean the application areas (badges, indents, etc…) with rubbing alcohol several times to remove any other oil or dirt. Q-Tips help with cleaning out crevices. Be sure there is no alcohol or water on the badge during the decal application.
2. For best results, work in a relatively warm, dry area and allow the working surface to change to the room temperature before application. It's recommended to work in 50 ° F or warmer) temperatures.
Product-specific recommendations:
“5.7L V8” Engine Cover Overlays
Note: If you chose the Reflec-Dome option, Installation is the same, except there is no clear masking on top of the decal.
• It is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you thoroughly clean the engine cover lettering with rubbing alcohol prior to installation. The engine cover also must be cool.
• We recommend sanding the lettering with 600 grit sand paper or even a course steel wool. This will remove the “slickness” of the factory paint.
• The decals are sandwiched between the mask (clear cover) and the backing. Carefully peel away the backing. Line the decal up over the letter or number by looking through the mask. Be careful not to let the decal touch the engine cover until you are ready to apply. (note, if you ordered the “Reflec-Dome” Option, there is no masking).
• 5.7L: It's easiest to line up the tops of the letters, then work your way down. Press firmly to be sure the decals adhere to the surface and remove the masking.
• V8: It's easiest to line up the center portions of the eight, work your way up the 8 and back down, then the V should lay right in place. Again, press firmly.
• If the decal lifts back up with the masking, just carefully press the decal back down after removing the masking.
